The Institute's offers experienced practitioners the opportunity to demonstrate their competence against the CILT Qualifications Standards, based on accreditation of prior learning and/or assessment and verification in the workplace. This contributes to individual personal development opportunities and enables individuals to gain a professional qualification from the Institute.

PDAS FAQs - What is The Professional Development Assessment Service?

  • The Institute's Professional Development Assessment Service (PDAS) offers experienced practitioners the opportunity to demonstrate their competence against the Institute's logistics qualifications and standards, based on accreditation of prior learning and/or assessment and verification in the workplace.
  • PDAS is operated on behalf of the Institute by an approved professional assessment centre. Its personnel are well-known to the Institute

 Why is PDAS important to me?

  • It contributes to individual personal development opportunities and enables individuals to gain a professional qualification from the Institute, plus accreditation for existing skills and knowledge

Who is it for?
Candidates who:

  • Are not members of the Institute
  • Apply for membership but have no formal recognition for existing knowledge and/or skills
  • Have professional experience in logistics & transport, but have not gained qualifications
  • Can demonstrate a track record of learning through attendance on accredited courses

How does PDAS work?

  • When candidates enrol they are sent Introductory Notes and, following registration, Guidance Materials to enable them to familiarise themselves with the requirements of the PDAS
  • An Assessor is allocated to the candidate and the Assessor contacts them directly to arrange the Initial Competence Analysis (ICA) - see below
  • On completion of the ICA an Induction will take place outlining the assessment process and what is required of the candidate in preparing for assessment
